American Airlines Rises with Strong Thanksgiving Reliability, Bigger Schedules, Added Capacity and Peak Holiday Performance

Tourism Africa introduces

As the busy holiday season approaches, travelers across the United States are preparing for one of the most demanding travel periods of the year. Amid this annual surge, American Airlines is stepping forward with renewed confidence, positioning itself for a smooth and reliable Thanksgiving operation after moving beyond the turbulence caused by the recent government shutdown.

In the days following the disruption, American made notable strides in restoring performance and reassuring travelers. From November 9 to November 15, the airline achieved industry-leading on-time departures and arrivals among the nation’s three largest network carriers. This recovery has provided a solid foundation for the airline’s most ambitious holiday schedule in recent years.

With the Federal Aviation Administration’s flight reduction order now officially lifted, customers can again expect every scheduled flight to operate as planned. The airline’s commitment to delivering a consistent and dependable experience is clearer than ever, especially as millions of Americans prepare to reunite with loved ones between November 20 and December 2.

This year’s Thanksgiving operation represents the airline’s largest holiday schedule ever, with a remarkable 80,759 flights planned between mainline and regional partners. Not only does this surpass last year’s volume, it also stands as the largest schedule offered by any airline worldwide during the holiday period.

Behind the scenes, the airline is preparing for a massive logistical undertaking, anticipating the handling of nearly 5.6 million checked bags over the holiday. Building on its record-breaking baggage performance, teams across the network are working to ensure bags stay on track, move efficiently through hubs, and arrive with their owners.

With the strongest operational streak in weeks and the promise of a dependable travel period ahead, the airline is entering the Thanksgiving season ready to deliver on its commitments: reliability, efficiency, and a smoother path home for millions.
